As a key member of LoG's leadership team, the lead artist will work in partnership with the creative director to support and manage people, pipelines and processes within the art department. You will sense changes in the environment in order to administer and allocate art talent and resources to meet production's needs, whilst maintaining a sustainable, healthy and positive working environment for your team to thrive in. You are an expert in your craft and will be able to provide critical guidance to the art department to achieve project and personal goals.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years relevant experience at videogame development studio/s.
  • Experience managing videogame art teams and pipelines.
  • Broad range of role-relevant skills with deep expertise in at least one area (aka; a demonstrable "T-shaped" skillset).
  • Proficiency in standard industry tools (i.e., Maya, Z-Brush, Photoshop, etc) and a high capacity to source and learn new tools.
  • Expertise and experience with communication, analytical, planning and organisational skills.
  • Detail sensitivity, a proven aesthetic eye and strong design sensibilities.
  • You love managing/supporting/mentoring your fellow artists! (heart)

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the creative director to ensure a unified departmental vision is maintained and those values/standards become everyday practice across the team.
  • Assist production in setting effective goals and themes for sprints and milestones, coordinating directly with the game director to ensure a unified vision for our projects.
  • Guide your department, the studio and our projects towards long term success by advocating for everything from better tools to creative concerns.
  • Take responsibility in ensuring the quality of art produced by the department meets LoG's industry-leading standards.
  • Work with production, the creative director and your team to ensure departmental deadlines are met.
  • Utilise your technical and artistic skills to work "on tools" alongside the art team as needed.
    In counsel with the creative director and studio manager, lead departmental recruitment and hiring initiatives.
  • Work to maintain team members’ morale and engagement, whilst remaining attentive to their physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.
  • Assist team members in developing and reaching their personal and professional development goals.
  • Be an active mentor and role model for the art team, consistently leading through exemplary performance, professionalism, resourcefulness, mindfulness and integrity.

At League of Geeks, we dedicate ourselves to crafting engaging game experiences and a major part of this is having fabulous visual effects! We're looking for a Real-Time VFX artist to create stylised particle and visual effects for our new project and original IP.

Short to long term contracts available depending on the experience and availability of the applicant. Remote opportunities are available. Relocation options & ongoing work will be considered for people who are interested in full-time positions and are perfect fits for the project!

Requirements:

  • Experience building particle effects in a game engine (eg Unity, Unreal).
  • Proficiency in Photoshop, After Effects and any other tools that might help you to create professional effects, such as Maya particle/dynamics, Fume etc.
  • Comfortable creating shaders using Shader Graph (or equivalent) for VFX.
  • Excellent communication, creative collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • A commitment to working in a professional, inclusive and supportive environment.
  • Understanding of how to make in-game special effects for games, or shipped titles demonstrating your experience and skill set.

Responsibilities:

  • Creation of VFX for LoG's games.
  • To work with, and take direction from the Technical Artist and Art Director and make revisions as needed.
  • Contribute to improvements in VFX production workflows and pipelines.
  • Follow established production pipelines, procedures and conventions, and to help document these where required.
  • Collaborate with other artists and the broader team to help bring the project vision to life.
